Introduction to Web Design – W19 – Get the Basics Right – Learning Activity – Part One

Explain the following terms in your own words:
The Internet
– HTML
– Browser
– Search engine

The Internet

Simply put, the internet is a network made up of all the devices that have an internet connection, and is used to share information across all these devices.

HTML (Hypertext Markup Language)

HTML is the language of the internet. Documents that are designed for the internet and web browsers use HTML.

Browser

Web browsers are software applications that are used for accessing information on the internet. When typing and searching for a URL, the browsers retrieve the HTML documents from that page and displays it on the screen.

Search engine

Search engines are used to search the web for information. When typing a search query, the search engine searches for those specific keywords in HTML documents and presents you with the most relevant results.
